President Barack Hussein Obama is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?
For what, exactly? Has peace broken out somewhere in the world that I haven't heard about? I'm pretty sure it hasn't broken out lately in this part of the world.
I'm not saying it should never happen (okay, maybe I am, but I am trying to be open-minded here), but since World War III (they don't call me Doomsday Baila for nothin') may be around the corner, perhaps this prize is just a teensy-weensy bit premature?
What do you think?

Once the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Arafat, I ceased believing in it as a measure of anything other than that the politics of the recipient were somehow in line with the politics of the awards committee. It seems that the term "useful idiot" may now be applied to Heads of State, and not just to scientists whose political savvy cannot be expected to extend beyond the walls of their test tubes.
Ruti,
Useful?
I quote Moon Unit Zappa in "Valley Girl" when I say, "Gag me with a spoon!"
My reaction can best be summed up as: "Seriously?!!!"
We live in a bizarre, Orwellian world.
"Useful idiots" was a term used to describe Soviet sympathizers who lived in the U.S. (attributed to Lenin).
People prefer to believe in fantasy land, and Obama seems to represent that fantasy land.
What a joke. Didn't they give to him because he "hopes for peace" or something equally silly? Hey, I hope for peace, too. I was robbed!!!
RR: LOL! My son says his "Spread the Love" campaign has had more concrete results -- so HE should have gotten the prize.
The joke is the Nobel people.
