My poor, abandoned blog

I don't know what to say.

I have no excuse.

I still write blog posts in my head. I still get inspired.

I just don't feel like putting it to the screen.

I've thought of bowing out gracefully, ala my old friend SuperRaizy.

But I don't want to let it go. I feel like I'll be back. Really.

I still read blogs. Occasionally comment.

But the actual writing--well you see what's happened.

When I started the blog, I committed, in my head to writing two posts a week, with a goal of ten a month. I just like nice round numbers that way. If you look up my stats, you'll see that's just what I did--until this past April, when I took a month off after my father passed away.

I wonder about that connection. It's been 8 months since he left. In my day-to-day life you would not know that I am in my year of mourning. There are certain things I won't do until the year is up, but those are mostly things you wouldn't notice. And yet, I've been meaning to write a post about my father, one with pictures, one that will show the world who didn't know him just how special a person he was. But I haven't been able to do that and maybe, just maybe that is why I pay minimal attention to Calling Baila.

Or maybe that's not it. Maybe I'm just to busy with all the other things in my life: work, TWO book clubs, my crocheting chug, pilates, walking all over town because my car died and, oh yeah, let's not forget those other four creatures that live in my home. (Oops, Sorry Ozzy, five creatures. Sheesh I hate it when you read over my shoulder).

Whatever it is, know this: I'm not throwing in the towel. I love this blog. If the posts are down so be it. I know I'll get back to it on some sort of regular basis and when I do, I hope you'll continue to stop in.

Because you guys are what make blogging so much fun.

Oh, sigh, I know.

I personally feel like I am retreading old material and who wants to read that? I bore myself.

And now that I have some actual paying work, maybe that should be my writing priority? Perhaps?

But anyway, I'm happy to read whenever you're in the mood to post. At least I can catch you at the mall in person ;)

I wrote a post recently about my blogging activity and it seems quite a number of people are blogging less.
Enjoy whatever keeps you off the computer and write every now and again, we'll read your posts.

When there is a tragedy in Israel, you seem to take quickly to writing up your thoughts on the blog. So may there be no more tragedies, and the past posts will just sit here.

My main incentive for my Here in HP blog is at some point I will do artwork again, and then I will have a place to put it all.

You are in my Google Reader, so if you post only once in a purple moon, it will show up!

Don't take blogging as a religion. You can blog when you feel like it and if you don't - no one's keeping score. I have your blog in my Google reader and when you post, I"ll know it and come and read. You have to live life to be able to write about it.
(I would be interested in reading about your father, though.)
Have a great life!

Hey- who are you calling old?!
I'd like to (hypocritically) ask you not to stop blogging. Like the other commenters said, even a little Baila is better than no Baila at all.

Tired,

Now that's what I'd like: paid writing! But I have no idea how to go about it.

ID,

I saw that post, but did not comment. I think there are more bloggers on facebook and twitter these days.

Gila Rose,

Love Loyal Readers!

Fern,

I personally want to hear the 2010 wrap-up. Better get moving--less than a week left.

Leora,

Your blog has certainly evolved since you first started it, and I still enjoy checking in.

Risa,

Thanks. I like your perspective of looking at it as a diary, some kind of legacy for the future. I should probably back it up somehow in that case.

SR,
:-) I miss your blog. Won't you consider coming back?

Can I just say "ditto" to everyone else's comments? :-)
You post, I'll read - no matter the frequency!

Shavua tov!

Could this be a world wide blog recession?

Batya said...

ditto, as they say.
It makes sense that your year of mourning means changes, and if you don't post, that's ok, too.

It's just a blog.

Baila: Don't worry about it - we'll read your blog whenever you return :)

I realize that I'm joining in late, but I just wanted to say that whenever you are able to post, I will be happy to read!

Blogging is like life. One minute you can be inspired, and the next not so much.

Blogging is to make you happy, so it's there when you are.
