Taking a survey

I need help for a post that's been running around my head. I'd appreciate it if you could help me out, even if you don't normally comment.

How often do you change the sheets in your home? (Or how often are they changed if you aren't the one doing the changing).

Now, I need you to be honest here. If you're going to lie and tell me you change it everyday or every week, when you don't, well that's not helpful to me. I want brutal honesty, even if it's gross.

Of course, that doesn't mean I need a blow-by-blow account of your cleanliness habits. Some things just come under the guise of "TMI", if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the help; I know I can count on my "blogger community".

I dont change the sheets myself, and I am not sure with what frequency this occurs. Every so often I get in too bed and things just look different.

My husband changes the sheets once a week, on Sundays. Yay for him! I do the subsequent laundering.

Every week in the summer, less often in the winter even up to two weeks. I've been known to change the sheets in the middle of a hot night when I can't sleep.
My mother changed top sheets every two weeks and bottom ones every week.
Laundering less saves water. ;)

This is gross, so I'm anony-mouse...

I try for every two weeks...mikveh night and when the beds are split...

As for the kids....ummm...ahhhh...time for me to start getting a schedule

Arthur,

Nice for you.

Leora,

Now you've made both me AND Isaac feel inadequate....sigh...

Mom,

And here in Casa Baila we worry very much about the Kinneret.

Anony-mouse,

Another benefit of that mitzvah, I'm sure not intended by the rabbis. But I have to tell you, you're coming dangerously close to TMI :-)

You're supposed to change your sheets?

(Well, I guess there's your answer.)

Large family here-4 adults and 4 kids. Laundry got out of hand when I realized that my parent's got clean sheets every week and my husband and I hadn't had clean sheets in....weeks.
So, we hired a cleaning lady who does laundry (husband works 80 plus hours a week, I teach and then take care of everything else).
Now we have clean bottom sheets, towels and pillowcases every week and comforter covers every 2 weeks.
I know, this is TMI

I change our sheets every other week, unless Penina says otherwise!

Every other week too.

every week for adults
kids are still in Pish in bed stage..so sometimes a lot more often for them...(I know, I know...why don't I use a pull up...)

(Sometimes I cheat and just wash the pillowcases, because they get yucky faster than the rest of the sheets.)
My mother used to wash the sheets for all 7 of us every week, without fail.I usually do it every two weeks, but I know that I should do it every week.
(Hey, when you're done with this post, can you ask people how often they change their underwear? That should be interesting...)

now that you got some answers what are you doing with the results, will they be published in the next issue of better homes or will martha stewart be discusiing this on her next segment on bedding and comforters. Inquiring minds need to know.

We currently have a cleaning lady every week so they get changed every week. At one time we had a cleaning lady every other week, so they got changed every other week. Don't ask about the times when we didn't have a cleaning lady. (Although the average was probably every 2 weeks...)

slightly off-topic but I never unnderstood why it;s necessary to launder towels, after all you only use them when you're super-clean, no??
and curtains? everybody knows that dust doesn't stick to anything vertical, right?

I'm one of those who doesn't actuallly KNOW how often the sheets are changed! Scary. My cleaning lady does it.
(Asher, I don't get the towel thing either!)

Just to make you feel a wee bit better...maybe it is every other week. I think he does the kids one week, and our beds the next. I dunno, there's always tons of laundry. And we get plenty of rain, no need to worry about Kinneret levels here.

I clean them when I remember, or when they obviously dirty. I'm sure months can go by!

Now THERE's an HONEST answer!

In theory - once a week.
In reality - more like every other week...

So, how often do *you* change them??

I would launder them more if someone else would strip the beds and, more importantly, make the beds afterwards.

I think this is the next job that I am going to train my kids to do....

I'm aiming for live-in cleaning service.... After all, I have three able bodied potential workers.... (four if you count DH)

I'm so relieved not to have the lowest standards.

Not nearly often enough now that my kids are not pishing in bed anymore. Other than that I'm pleading the fifth... *blush*

I do change them more in the summer, it's having to stuff the comforter inside the duvet cover that really puts me off in the winter.
