Nasty looking, I know, but it still is one of G-d's creatures. Mazi captured the little guy (gal?) scurrying along on the tayelet (boardwalk) of the city of Nahariya. In Israel, these critters are called "Jukim". Growing up in Brooklyn, New York City, we'd see 'em every now and then, and they absolutely terrified me. We called them "Water Bugs", but to me they are Giant Cockroaches. Blech. So check out the weekly posting of this and more cuddly creatures at Camera-Critters.

I love it! A very Israeli critter. I didn't post to camera critters this week because 1) I posted a stuffed animal. One could hardly call this a critter, but I'm not into photographing dogs or cats. 2) They put those linkies up on Shabbat morning, so the earliest I could put something up is late Sat. night. I guess if I were more into the critters thing, as opposed to the Ruby Tuesday photographing something red, which I love, I might still do it. But you get the most visitors if you are early in the linkies.
That truely is one of God's critters and it was a fun post.

Misty, The only critters i have to photograph are my 4 kids. Although, we did find a dead mouse in the driveway today maybe i should have photographed it.

Unfortunately, we have large cockroaches where I live, also. I am definitely *not* fond of them! There are a lot of them outside, around the house and on my carport. Occasionally, I find a dead one in the house, not always in a place I would like. GOOD KITTIES! They are my indoor bug-patrol!
In your picture he looks like a cute little guy. Don't know how I'd feel about him if I met him in person.
Ah, but do you dare squash these jukim with your bare feet?

We have their relatives the wood roaches here in cottage country. They go after wood so sometimes get in with the firewood. I saw the giant hissing cockroaches at the zoo ... those I would be running from!

I squashed it because it was easier to stomp on it with my bare foot than kill it with my sandal. They are extremely sneaky creatures and have a 6th sense for survival.
However, I must admit, that since then, I've gotten more adept at killing them with my sandals...
